Isn’t he precious?

(Yes, Aunt Whitney, he's using his LEFT hand J)

In order to ride in Mom's car, you have to have style. Here he is sporting his sunglasses...Landon Style.

That's right!  Landon turned 17 weeks & 4 months old this week.  He has been wanting to sit up more.  He's not sittin up on his own yet, but he loves to be propped up so he can watch everything going on.  We sat him on the couch to get a few pictures and he was mesmerized by the TV (explaining picture #1).  He definitely knows what he likes and dislikes.  He dislikes seeing his bottle when he is really hungry, but does like it when he is eating his bottle.  He does like to play on the floor with his toys and in his new exersaucer, but doesn't like playing when he is tired.  His likes and dislikes are all normal baby things, but it's fun for us to see him putting things together.  His coordination is much improving.  He reaches for things with purpose now, and usually has good hand-eye coordination.

4 Month Check-up

Picture
Landon went to the doctor for his 4 month checkup this week.  Again he flirted with all of the nurses - gave them smiles and talked to them a little bit.  Dr. Hanson said that he's doing great.  Everything he is doing - including his excessive drooling - is normal and his development is right on target.  His head measured at the 25th percentile, his weight (14 pounds 6 ounces) is at the 50th percentile, and his length (26.5 inches) is at the 95th percentile!  Yes, he is a looong baby.  He doesn't get that height from his mom :).  The only thing that didn't go so well at the appt. was the shots - he SCREAMED bloody murder and continued to cry and carry on until we were a few miles from the house.

Meeting Mr. & Mrs. Thompson

Landon met some new people this week.  Mr. & Mrs. Thompson came to visit.  They were the very nice people who gave Landon the super cute personalized elephant. Larry works with Dave and it was so nice for us to finally get together and meet each other.  Landon smiled and let them hold him the entire time they were here.  He eventually got tired and took a little snooze on Dana's lap - so cute!

Our little man is getting so big, weighing in at 14 pounds 12 ounces.  We have so many little nicknames for him...bubba, punkin head, prince, spoiled, Mr. Bubbles, rockstar, Mr. Impatient, chatterbox - all describing his personality.  His little personality blooms more and more each day.

He loves to play and will play on his tummy or back for long periods of time, but also knows when he wants to be held.  Recently his favorite position to be held is up on the shoulder, if you're not doing it exactly how he likes it he will let you know.  He's been very social, smiling and cooing at people.

He normally will let anyone hold him, excpet last week when we went to visit Carmen (our next door neighbor).  She was playing dominos with her friends, and Landon scrunched his face in and pouted his lower lip and started WAILING - not crying - WAILING!  I honestly did not know what to do, he was so upset.  He finally calmed down and smiled for the ladies...what a little flirt :)

Happy Mother's Day!  Being a mother is such a wonderful role in life...and being a mom to Landon is awesome!  Landon celebrated Mom's Day by waking me up @ 5:30am this morning, he usually sleeps until 7:30 or 8am.  He couldn't wait to give me my 1st Mother's Day gift.  He and Dad got me a beautiful Garnett (Landon’s birthstone) pendant necklace with Landon’s name and birth date inscribed on the edges.  So blessed to be a mom & wife to 2 wonderful guys J

Today was also a special day for Landon as he was dedicated at church today.  Calvary had a very nice dedication service after the main service just for the families who were dedicating children.  We were very happy that Grandma & Grandpa Aberle, Grammie & Grandpa Menold, Aunt Whitney & Uncle Scott, Uncle Noah and Nanny & Pa could be with us for this special time.  After church we came back to our house for brunch.  It was a fun and relaxing time for us to enjoy each other’s company, and of course play with Landon.

Landon is 15 weeks old today, weighing in at 14 pounds, 5 ounces.  He's still trying to decide if he's a thumb sucker or finger sucker.  Sometimes it's both.

***Pictures & Videos have been added****

April has been a very busy month.  We've been enjoying the nice weather...so happy that spring is finally here!  The longer days and warm weather are the only excuses we can provide for the lack of updates and pictures.  This post works backwards....starts with the most recent and ends with where we left off.

Week 13 (April 21 - 28)

Landon was 13 pounds, 5 ounces.  Landon found his voice this week.  He has been cooing for a while, but he now coos over and over for several minutes at a time.  He'll coo at you while your talking to him, while the radio is playing, or if you are reading to him.  He even "talks" to the little toys that are dangling from the play gym or car seat...It's so cute.

Grammy & Grandpa came to see Landon on Friday.  Landon gave Grammy a little pep talk about how her foot needs to get better soon!  He also apologized about the big stroller and explained to her that he got a new stroller this week for smaller wheels...hopefully they won't trip her when she's back to walking on both feet!!!

He also has decided he loves the outdoors.  He enjoys going for stroller rides, playing with mom & dad outside, or lounging on Nanny's lap on the front porch.

Pa brought Nanny back this week, so Landon & Pa got a chance to sit on the front porch for some fun time, too!

3 Months Old (Monday, April 20)

Seriously!?  How can he be 3 months old already?  David & I are in complete awe that the time has gone by so fast already!  What a precious little boy...we love him so much and thank the Lord every day for our "Little Man" he has blessed us with.

Accomplishments @ 3 months....giggled, rolled over, coos, smiles, eats ~6 ounces every four hours during the day, sleeps 10-12 hours at night, holds head up without support, reaches and holds onto toys, and drooooool all day long :)

Week 12 (April 14 - 20)

Landon weighed 13 pounds 2 ounces.

Landon had a great weeek (April 13 - 17) with Grandma Barb.  She spent her spring break playing with Landon.  Landon had so much fun with Grandma all week.  They played patty-cake, went on walks, and baked a cake together.  Thanks Grandma for the super fun week!!!

On April 19th Landon achieved 2 milestones.  In the morning he rolled over!  Then in the evening Dave was playing with him and blowing on the bottom of his feet.  Landon giggled...twice!  It surprised us so much!  As soon as he did that, he quit.  We tried to get him to do it again, but he was't interested in doing it again.  We couldn't believe that he rolled over and giggled in the same day - what fun!

Week 11 (Apiril 7 - 13)

Week 11 - Landon weighed 13 pounds!  His neck is getting so strong and he can hold his head up without much support.  Because of this, he started sitting in his bumpo seat for a few minutes at a time.

Landon loves to play in his Baby Einstein play gym.  He is batting at the toys with his hands and kicks his feet fiercefully while playing with the toys.  He typically spends 20 - 30 minutes playing with it at a time - great for 11 weeks!

It's official...Landon is sleeping 10 hours at night consistantly - this makes his mommy & daddy sooo HAPPY!  He goes to bed around 8:30pm and stays in bed until 6:30 - 7:00am.

We're still waiting for some warm weather so that we can go outside to play.

Happy Easter!  Landon celebrated his first Easter in fashion.  He had his Easter picture taken at the mall with the rather large bunny.  No smiles for the bunny, but at least he didn't cry!

This weekend we spent time in Morton with our families.  Landon had 4 Easter baskets, was held by 20+ different people, and we enjoyed many different yummy meals.  It was so great to see everyone and hope you had an enjoyable weekend!

Our little man is 2 months old (officially on March 20).  Landon was 9 weeks old last Tuesday, the same day that he had his 2 month check-up at the doctor’s office.  He is growing so big!!

Weight: 11 lbs. 14 ozs (50th percentile)
Length: 23.5 inches (75th percentile)
Head Circumference: 39.2 cm (25th percentile)

Landon was so sweet at the dr. office.  He smiled and talked to the nurses while they we measuring and weighing him.  Dr. Hanson didn’t get many smiles, but she reassured him that she thought he was pretty wonderful.  Unfortunately he couldn’t charm his way out of getting his first set of shots (first of many more to come).  He had 1 oral vaccine – he thought that was great J!  Then he had 4 shots – 2 in each thigh – he didn’t think those were so great L.  Poor little man – he cried for a few minutes.  He got a fun band-aid for each shot (check out the picture below).  He was a little fussy the rest of the day, but his legs didn’t seem sore the next day.

As mentioned before, Landon is smiling and “talking” more and more every day.  He spends time playing on his activity mat kicking and swinging at the animals/toys hanging above him.  He’s also started admiring his hands when they are fisted.  Nanny loves this!  It is cute to see him put his fists in front of his face and stare at them.  It’s so amazing how God has created our child and to watch him develop right before our eyes – so precious!  Something that Landon has blessed us with lately is his sleep.  For the past couple of weeks Landon has been sleeping through the night.  He goes to bed around 8:30pm and sleeps until 4:30 – 6am!  It’s wonderful.  To make sure we don’t take it for granted, he sometimes wakes up at 2:30am, but at least it’s not every night.  He woke up at 2:30am early Sunday morning – early enough to see the snow coming down – yuck!  We are very ready for spring weather so we can enjoy some outdoor activities.

Mr. Smiles...notice that milk drool.

He's 8 weeks!  He weighs about 11.5 pounds this week.

It was such a gorgeous day here that Dave, Landon, Max, MoJo & I took a walk this evening.  Landon loved every minute of it.  He started off smiling and cooing.  By the time we arrived back in our driveway he was sleeping.  As you can see from the picture below he doesn't always smile, but he loves just hanging out.  Today Nanny put him in the swing and turned on cartoons for him to watch.  She said it was so cute to see how he was watching and following the characters on the screen.

Check out his shirt. I thought it was fitting since his daddy works on airplane programs at Boeing :)

So the dogs are doing really good with Landon.  MoJo is more interested in him than Max is, but both have done well with adjusting to the baby.  When we got MoJo and Max we did several dog training classes and taught them many commands.  The both picked up on the training very quickly and we have continued to reinforce the commands and rules.  One area we were a little relaxed on was allowing them on the furniture.  We have learned in the past 8 weeks that this was a bad idea.  So, for the past 2 weeks we've been working with the pups on staying off of the furniture.  MoJo has taken this more personally than Max.  However both have caught on to this quite quickly and are doing very well with the new house rule.  Here's a picture of their puppy couch.  Not quite as big and comfy as they'd like, but I like it much better :)

Last week was my first week back to work.  Those 7 weeks went by much too quickly!  I didn’t shed any tears because Grammy came in to stay with Landon for the week.  I knew that he would be very well taken care of (and spoiled!) while at work, so no worries were to be had.

Grammy was a great help!  First she worked on figuring out what kind of schedule Landon was wanting to have during the day.  We determined that he likes a good morning nap, cat naps in the early afternoon, and a good nap in the late afternoon.  He has been going to bed around 8:30pm and gets up about 6:30am, only waking around 2:30am for a feeding.  We can work with that schedule!  It’s great!

Second Grammy worked on getting Landon socialized – this isn’t something I thought he was lacking.  However, my mom ran into some friends from Morton at a mall here in St. Louis (such a small world!).  She was showing Landon off to her friends….he would look at her and smile, then look at the friends and frown!  He did this several times over again.  So it was determined that he needs to be socialized more so that he would smile at everyone J  So, she socialized him at the malls and stores while working on his wardrobe.  Grammy got Landon new socks, shoes, clothes, books and toys.  So much fun!  Grammy – we can’t thank you enough for all you did last week!  In addition to taking care of Landon you took awesome care of Dave & me.  THANK YOU!!!!

Grammy had to go home so that she could go back to work.  So, Nanny has moved in and is ready to take care of Landon --- until the end of summer.   We are so blessed to have her here taking great care of our little man.  Landon is going to have so much fun with Nan.  She has taken care of so many children over the years, and Landon is lucky to be one of them.  Pa & Noah brought Nan today, here are a few shots of them hanging out with Landon and trying to get him to smile.
