We made a road trip to Morton the weekend of May 29 - 31.  Dave & I had a wedding to go to on Saturday night, so Uncle Noah and his girlfriend, Whitney, offered to babysit Landon for the evening.  They had a blast with him.  He had a great time hanging out with them and going to visit people with them.  He was exhausted from all of the fun they had (as the above picture shows).

They spent the afternoon/evening playing and visiting people (including Great-Grandma Menold, Great- Aunt Beth, and Great-Aunt Billie).  As you can tell by the pictures below they had a fun time with Land-o (Uncle Noah's nickname for Landon) and he had a great time with them.  Thanks so much Whitney & Noah for offering to babysit Landon!  We really appreciate the time you both spent with him and taking him to visit some of the family.  We love you both!  And you can babysit Land-o any time you want :)

Isn’t he precious?

(Yes, Aunt Whitney, he's using his LEFT hand J)

In order to ride in Mom's car, you have to have style. Here he is sporting his sunglasses...Landon Style.

That's right!  Landon turned 17 weeks & 4 months old this week.  He has been wanting to sit up more.  He's not sittin up on his own yet, but he loves to be propped up so he can watch everything going on.  We sat him on the couch to get a few pictures and he was mesmerized by the TV (explaining picture #1).  He definitely knows what he likes and dislikes.  He dislikes seeing his bottle when he is really hungry, but does like it when he is eating his bottle.  He does like to play on the floor with his toys and in his new exersaucer, but doesn't like playing when he is tired.  His likes and dislikes are all normal baby things, but it's fun for us to see him putting things together.  His coordination is much improving.  He reaches for things with purpose now, and usually has good hand-eye coordination.

4 Month Check-up

Picture
Landon went to the doctor for his 4 month checkup this week.  Again he flirted with all of the nurses - gave them smiles and talked to them a little bit.  Dr. Hanson said that he's doing great.  Everything he is doing - including his excessive drooling - is normal and his development is right on target.  His head measured at the 25th percentile, his weight (14 pounds 6 ounces) is at the 50th percentile, and his length (26.5 inches) is at the 95th percentile!  Yes, he is a looong baby.  He doesn't get that height from his mom :).  The only thing that didn't go so well at the appt. was the shots - he SCREAMED bloody murder and continued to cry and carry on until we were a few miles from the house.

Meeting Mr. & Mrs. Thompson

Landon met some new people this week.  Mr. & Mrs. Thompson came to visit.  They were the very nice people who gave Landon the super cute personalized elephant. Larry works with Dave and it was so nice for us to finally get together and meet each other.  Landon smiled and let them hold him the entire time they were here.  He eventually got tired and took a little snooze on Dana's lap - so cute!

Our little man is getting so big, weighing in at 14 pounds 12 ounces.  We have so many little nicknames for him...bubba, punkin head, prince, spoiled, Mr. Bubbles, rockstar, Mr. Impatient, chatterbox - all describing his personality.  His little personality blooms more and more each day.

He loves to play and will play on his tummy or back for long periods of time, but also knows when he wants to be held.  Recently his favorite position to be held is up on the shoulder, if you're not doing it exactly how he likes it he will let you know.  He's been very social, smiling and cooing at people.

He normally will let anyone hold him, excpet last week when we went to visit Carmen (our next door neighbor).  She was playing dominos with her friends, and Landon scrunched his face in and pouted his lower lip and started WAILING - not crying - WAILING!  I honestly did not know what to do, he was so upset.  He finally calmed down and smiled for the ladies...what a little flirt :)

Happy Mother's Day!  Being a mother is such a wonderful role in life...and being a mom to Landon is awesome!  Landon celebrated Mom's Day by waking me up @ 5:30am this morning, he usually sleeps until 7:30 or 8am.  He couldn't wait to give me my 1st Mother's Day gift.  He and Dad got me a beautiful Garnett (Landon’s birthstone) pendant necklace with Landon’s name and birth date inscribed on the edges.  So blessed to be a mom & wife to 2 wonderful guys J

Today was also a special day for Landon as he was dedicated at church today.  Calvary had a very nice dedication service after the main service just for the families who were dedicating children.  We were very happy that Grandma & Grandpa Aberle, Grammie & Grandpa Menold, Aunt Whitney & Uncle Scott, Uncle Noah and Nanny & Pa could be with us for this special time.  After church we came back to our house for brunch.  It was a fun and relaxing time for us to enjoy each other’s company, and of course play with Landon.

Landon is 15 weeks old today, weighing in at 14 pounds, 5 ounces.  He's still trying to decide if he's a thumb sucker or finger sucker.  Sometimes it's both.

Landon was 14 weeks old on Tuesday, April 28.  He weighed in just shy of 14 pounds and measured a little over 25 inches long - what a big boy!  His dark hair is starting to fill in and his eyes have changed from baby blue to a med. brown/hazel color.  His smile is so cute!

Cute story for this week: As I've mentioned in earlier posts, Landon has found his voice - he loves to talk to people, the TV, sing in the car with the radio...I could go on and on.  We have been taking Landon into church service with us, because we haven't been brave enough to leave Landon in church nursery yet (too little, too many winter illnesses looming, etc...).  He usually sleeps through most of the service, so it's not too big of a distraction to have him there with us. Today he decided to find his voice during service.  He started out singing along with us during praise & worship (ooooh, OOOH, AHHH, Ah Ah Ah) - Dave thinks he's a little tone deaf ;).  Then, Landon also decided he wanted to preach along with Pastor Al, more OOOHs, AHHHs, ooohs.  We're not pressuring him, but we think he might want to consider going into the ministry - either as a music director or a preacher :)    Next week Landon gets dedicated at church, so he'll go to service with us then.  However, I think we'll start introducing him to the very kind people working in the church nursery the following Sunday morning.
